I'm taking an online urban sketching course, even though I live in a rural setting. It's more about sketching on site, buildings, people, cars...things as they actually are/moving and 'being' and learning to sketch around people ... ugh not so easy for an introvert...trust me!!
I'm enjoying it though, and a great online community as well! Learning to 'see' things differently, and learning new skills...loving the instructors, and seeing their amazing sketchbooks, they are definitely works of art!! OUTSTANDING!! So I'm in the third week of the course, and keeping pace, surprisingly enough! Learning keeps things 'fresh' and I'm learning to use watercolours for the first time as well! But today, I have to concentrate on doing a full piece of work, and I'm thinking it's time to pull out the inktense again! I know no one reads this, but I like putting my thoughts down in this blog, so what the heck! And here are two of my sketches, the black & white is a spiral drawing, featuring my collection of all things sea related!! I love the sea, I have salt-water in my veins...LOL, and that table sits in our sunroom, model friendship sloop and all! The second is my first watercolour piece..and it's a sketch of our 150 yr old funky home we purchased 3 years ago, and have been renovating & sprucing up since!! we live on a corner lot on a fairly quiet street, for that I am grateful! These are in my new sketchbook I started just for 'urban sketching' and hope to fill it within a year...we'll see how it goes, but for now, it's a journey I am truly enjoying! |
